~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
E Excel under pressure; cultivate courage.
N Never say die; endure endlessly.
T Trust others; be great in a group.
U Understand your commitment; give it your all.
R Risk take carefully; plan meticulously.
E Exude energy; triumph relentlessly.
1. Achieve internally
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Society has established visible indicators of success. These include material security and wealth, fame and power. None of our adventure achievers use these scales. They value personal contentment, satisfaction in themselves, integrity, happiness and independence. Self "actualized".

2. Dream Big and Dream Often

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* The Dream Process
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2.1 Be positively dissatisfied.
"Some men see things as they are and say why, I dream of things that never were and say why not."

2.2 Take action and adapt.

2.3 Accumulate experience and learn the lessons.

2.4 Focus.
"Your moment of strength is when you have the greatest amount of singleness of purpose."

2.5 Enjoy the journey.
"Reaching the summit is not the significant thing, because you learn nothing at the top."
J. Ammatt

* Visualize your Dream
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start with the basic concept and embellish it from there. See if you can put yourself into your dream - actually feeling, tasting, smelling it.
3. Value your Values
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The only way to be happy is to do fully what you are destined for."
Sir Francis Chester

* The Importance of intuition
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Trust your instinct to the end, though you can render no reason." Ralph Waldo Emerson
* The Value in your values
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Increased clarity of purpose. The more you trust your intuition, the more aware you will become of who you are and what is important to you.

- Empowering Independence. If we can endure the discomfort of being different, we will garner a new-found sense of strength and self-worth. Anyone who has tried to step out from the flock understands that to do so involves a measure of personal sacrifice that may cause criticism from others, self doubt and isolation.

* Success, the three S's and its circular psychology
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Self-confidence
- Self-esteem
- Self-worth
While it is important to listen to positive criticism and learn from it, one has to differentiate between what is useful and what is detrimental.
"Success boils down to not being mentally encumbered by other people's ideas of what you should or shouldn't do."
John Hughes
* Great Leadership, Individuality, Grounding
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leaders are people who have enough self-confidence to be different.

4. Excel under pressure
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4.1 Fight not flight
4.2 Overcoming fear ( physical, emotional, spiritual, financial )
"When you run away from fear, it gets bigger but when you advance towards it, it shrinks."
Laurie Skreslet.
The Barriers to success:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Fear of Failure.

2. Fear of being ridiculed.

3. Fear of the unknown.
"The only fear you should have is the fear of mediocrity."
Mike Bedell

4.3 Resolute indecisiveness. He who hesitates is lost.
The ability to make big decisions quickly.

4.4 Turning Negatives ( Obstacles, adversity, uncertainty, unknown ) Into Positives:
"Obstacles are like nutshells, once cracked, reveal meat inside that nourished you."
Laurie Skreslet.

4.5 The Success in Failure.
"The only failure in life is when we fail to learn the lessons from our experience."
John Ammatt

"Experience is not what happens to you, experience is what you do with what happens to you."
Aldous Huxley

5. Never say die
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5.1 The excellence in endurance.
"In order to make a difference, we have to be willing to leave our comfort zones."
Sharon Wood
"A lot of people fail to achieve their objectives in life because they don't push through their limits."
Laurie Skreslet
5.2 The power of persistence.
Sooner or later, the one wins is the one who thinks he can.
5.3 The temper of toughness.
This does not mean they should deny their pain, it means they should acknowledge it, but work to overcome it.
6. Trust others.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Retain your independence. But work Productively as a member of a team.

"The essence of teamwork, is to use the strengths of others to offset our own limitations so that the strength of the team becomes greater than the sum of the individual parts."
John Ammatt

7. Understand Totally
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Understand totally why you have committed to a mission before you commit "to it" and be ultimately accountable for your actions.
7.1 The command of excellence.
"level of commitment equals level of performance."
Sharon Wood
7.2 Ultimate accountability is ultimate empowering.
"The day you take responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making excuses, that is the day you start for the top."
O.J. Simpson
8. Risk Take Carefully
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a very clear distinction between reckless foolishness and cool-calculated risk-taking.

"When forced to confront fear, a lot of people step back. Those who step forward, move forward."
John Ammatt

* The calibre of courage.
Risk assessment is nothing without the courage to take the risk, if the risk acceptable.

9. Exude Energy, Enthusiasm, and Curiosity
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* The energy in enthusiasm.
Those who are genuinely enthusiastic are genuinely valued in any organization, in any situation. If you want to be valued, be of value.
* The capacity of curiosity.
curiosity + opportunity = Productivity
One Step Beyond
adventure isn't hanging on a rope on the side of a mountain. Adventure is an attitude that we must apply to the day-to-day challenge of life. Facing new challenges, seizing new opportunities, testing our resources against the unknown, and in the process, discovering our own unique potential.
"If you start something, you might just succeed. But you'll never know until you start."
John Ammatt.
